This is one of the only things you will find where we can really say QUITTING IS GOOD FOR YOU!!! :D

A new club on dA for those wishing to quit smoking with support.

We don't offer a magic bullet... but we will be offering support, information, links, understanding, willingness to hear your rants and a chat room to connect with other quitters.

There will be a section for people wishing to find quit buddies where we will pair you up with another quitter to help each other specifically.

Plus you can submit your art about quitting smoking, done while quitting, stories about quitting and smoking related issues, inspirational stories and poems to help encourage others.

My hope is this will become a real community on dA with the aim to help people, not to force, coerce or bully people into stopping smoking, but to give them the support when they are ready to do so!

So. welcome.

I am a reformed smoker, and if you want to be too, and you need some support, you are in the right place.

Here is my totals
Ten months, two weeks, one day, 11 hours, 57 minutes and 15 seconds. 9584 cigarettes not smoked, saving £1,437.74. Life saved: 4 weeks, 5 days, 6 hours, 40 minutes.

Nifty little numbers... want to know how to get that on your system.

there will be tons of stuff added here, help with quitting links, and a chatroom will be added!

Why did I decide to quit smoking?

Well.. since I was 8-9 years old, I have smoked. By the time I was in my mid teens I was a 20 a day smoker... and by the time I was in my mid twenties, 30 a day!

then... 2nd May 2006, I finally decided to go to the hospital after a week of breathing problems, and chest pains, because I actually thought I was having a heart attack. I got to the ER (A&E dept) and I collapsed.
Turns out I had a blood clot go through my heart and into my lungs. I was very sick... I was in hospital for over a week. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't move properly... and yet... I was still smoking (yeah... idiot huh?)

Finally, one of the consultants told me outright, if I didn't stop smoking I was going to die within a couple of years...

So, 2 weeks out of the hospital. On June 1st 2006 I stopped smoking for good. I have never touched another smoke!

Some things to remember!

Quit the way YOU want to quit. there is no right or wrong way to do it!

You can only quit for YOU, quitting for someone else is pointless... it won't stick

It often takes more than one try to stop smoking! :D for me, this is my 2nd quit... ;)

So, if you wanna join...
Send a note saying Join and Watch the club... spreading the word would be good too!
